The first two rounds gave us some quintessential March Madness magic 🪄 (or drama, depending on who you ask). Kentucky-Santa Clara traded dramatic, last-second baskets in their opening match. Florida, the defending champion, blew their chance at a repeat title against Iowa, and another blue blood in North Carolina gave up the sixth-largest comeback in NCAA tournament history, blowing a 19-point lead to VCU before losing in overtime - which means Hubert Davis is out and the UNC job search is officially open. And Kansas lost on a buzzer-beater layup where St. John's Dylan Darling used his first points of the game to send his team to the Sweet Sixteen 😮 The Sweet Sixteen has Arizona, Duke, Michigan, Houston, and Iowa State still standing - and the lines are telling a story. We've got you covered below.
Meanwhile, the NFL is out here trying to give us a different kind of officiating problem. Labor talks between the NFL and the referees union broke off this week - and the league is now actively vetting replacement officials with the CBA set to expire May 31. The last time this happened we got the Fail Mary 🙄 The league is apparently prepared to replay-correct "clear and obvious" mistakes by replacement refs, which is a sentence that should terrify every bettor alive.
