After 13 years and one title in Milwaukee, Giannis Antetokounmpo is going to Miami - dealt to the Heat for Tyler Herro, three first-round picks, and a collection of young pieces in a trade that Pat Riley reportedly engineered with the same cold-blooded precision he's used to rearrange the NBA landscape for four decades. Giannis and Bam Adebayo alongside each other in South Beach is a genuinely terrifying proposition for everyone left in the East. The Celtics lost the race. The futures markets are already repricing. 🏀

On the pitch ⚽, the World Cup group stage is closing out this weekend and it has been absolutely unhinged. Cape Verde - a nation of barely 525,000 people playing in their first-ever World Cup - held Spain to a 0-0 draw, backed it up with a 2-2 against Uruguay, and have remarkably advanced to the knockout round. Meanwhile France won their group with nine points and a plus-8 goal differential and look like the most dangerous team in the tournament. As for the USMNT, they won Group D, which is what matters, even if Thursday's group stage finale stung a little. Already guaranteed to advance as group winners, the US fell 3-2 to an eliminated Türkiye side when Kaan Ayhan stabbed home in the 98th minute at the LA Stadium - the kind of loss that hurts for about 12 hours before you remember it changes literally nothing. America is craving another “Miracle” moment, and only time will tell if the USMNT can rise to the occasion 🤞

And in Queens, the Mets - owners of the second-highest payroll in baseball - are 34-48, just got swept by the Cubs, and fired manager Carlos Mendoza Friday at the midpoint of a season that was supposed to be a championship run. New York gave the Knicks a parade last week. The Mets are giving fans a very different kind of experience entirely. ⚾
