On the hardwood, Jalen Brunson scored 45 points - a Knicks record for a Finals game - and the New York Knicks beat the Spurs 94-90 in Game 5 to win their first NBA championship since 1973 🏆 Fifty-three years of frustration ended in San Antonio, of all places, with the Knicks rallying from a double-digit deficit for the fourth time in five games to do it. "I have no words," Brunson, the Finals MVP, said on the court afterward. Wemby and the Spurs were terrific and still have a bright, scary future ahead - but this one belonged to New York 🗽 The confetti is still falling in NYC, and not even another bad season from the NY Jets will ruin this year for New Yorkers.

While New York celebrated, Carolina quietly finished off a coronation of its own 👑 The Hurricanes beat Vegas 3-0 in Game 6 to win the Stanley Cup, capping a dominant regular season and postseason 🏒 The Canes are throwing their parade in Raleigh, so somewhere right now there's a hockey player on a flatbed truck holding the Cup at 11 AM with a Bud Light in the other hand 🍺 As it should be.

And the World Cup just delivered its own headline ⚽ The USMNT beat Australia 2-0 Friday night, and with Paraguay beating Türkiye in the late game, the Americans officially clinched Group D outright heading into the knockout rounds 🎉 Group winner, full confidence, a path that's about to get a lot tougher - but this team has looked the part through two matches, and the betting markets are taking notice. The stars ⭐ have been shining so far in this World Cup, and the Americans just might be putting the world on notice 😁

So here's where we stand, Nation. The NBA is done. The NHL is done. But don't put the wallet away - MLB is rolling through the heart of its summer slate and the World Cup is just heating up, and together they'll carry us all the way to kickoff of another football season.
