In NBA news, LeBron James is leaving Los Angeles - informing the Lakers that he’d be playing elsewhere for his unprecedented 24th season. The Warriors, Cavaliers, and Heat are all in pursuit. LeBron said he’s seeking “complete happiness” with his next team, which is either deeply moving or the most expensive free agency pitch in NBA history, depending on your perspective. Luka’s team now. The LeBron era in Hollywood is officially over. 🏀
On to the main event. ⚽️ The USMNT is alive and dangerous with a Round of 16 showdown against Belgium on Monday. The US beat Bosnia 2-0 to advance - Malik Tillman sealing it with a brilliant free kick - though star striker Folarin Balogun was sent off with a red card and will miss Monday’s match. Belgium will be no easy out - they rallied from 2-0 down against Senegal, scoring twice in the final four minutes of regulation and converting a stoppage-time penalty to advance in one of the wildest finishes of the tournament. Meanwhile Argentina barely escaped Cape Verde last night, which tells you all you need to know about how wide open this tournament is. The bracket is filled with opportunity. 🤑
